Summit Wine Room

Project description

Studio NYL was commissioned to prepare a design for glass wine room exhibiting many unique geometries to be the central feature of the Summit Restaurant which is housed within the Broadmoor Events Center. The central cone of the wine room houses a rotating wine rack to mimic nearby Pikes Peak.

While investigating various framing options Studio NYL suggested framing the room only of glass. As a result, 6” deep glass fins are used as beams and columns to support the glass cladding. The cladding is designed in a manner to serve as shear walls to resist seismic loads.
